RRB Group D Recruitment 2026
The Railway Recruitment Boards (RRBs) have released the official Centralised Employment Notification (CEN) No. 09/2025 for the recruitment of 22,195 posts in Level 1 of 7th CPC Pay Matrix across various units of Indian Railways. Eligible and interested candidates can submit their online applications through the official RRB websites before 2 March 2026. The application process started from 31 January 2026.
The recruitment is being conducted for various posts including Assistant TRD, Assistant Operations (Electrical), Assistant TL and AC, Assistant (S and T), Pointsman B, Assistant Track Machine, Trackmaintainer-IV, Assistant Bridge, Assistant Carriage and Wagon, Assistant Loco Shed (Electrical), Assistant P.Way, and Assistant Operations (Electrical). The initial pay for all these posts is ₹18,000 per month as per 7th CPC Pay Matrix. Note: Only candidates who appear in the Computer Based Test (CBT) will be eligible for refund of the examination fee (after deducting bank charges). Fee payment can be made through online mode only using internet banking, debit/credit cards, or UPI.
Selection Process
The selection process for RRB Group D Recruitment 2026 consists of the following stages:
1. Computer Based Test (CBT):
Single stage CBT covering General Science, Mathematics, General Intelligence and Reasoning, and General Awareness and Current Affairs. The CBT will have 100 questions of 1 mark each with 90 minutes duration (120 minutes for candidates using scribe). There will be negative marking of 1/3 mark for each wrong answer.
2. Physical Efficiency Test (PET):
Candidates shortlisted based on CBT merit will be called for PET at three times the vacancy. PET is qualifying in nature. Male candidates need to lift and carry 35 kg weight for 100 meters in 2 minutes and run 1000 meters in 4 minutes 15 seconds. Female candidates need to lift and carry 20 kg weight for 100 meters in 2 minutes and run 1000 meters in 5 minutes 40 seconds.
3. Document Verification (DV):
Candidates qualifying in CBT and PET will be called for document verification in 1:1 ratio of vacancies.
4. Medical Examination:
Final selection will be subject to medical fitness as per prescribed medical standards for each post.
Note:
Course Completed Act Apprentices (CCAA) trained in Railway Establishments and Ex-Servicemen are exempted from Physical Efficiency Test. PwBD candidates as specified in the notification are also exempted from PET.

| ↪ After creating an account or logging in, proceed to fill the online application form with all the required details including personal information, educational qualifications, post preferences, and upload your live photograph and signature as per specifications. |
| ↪ Select your preferred Railway Zone carefully as it cannot be changed later. Choose the posts you want to apply for from the available options in that zone. |
| ↪ Review all the entered information carefully before final submission. Ensure that the photograph captured is clear and the signature uploaded is in running handwriting (not in block letters). |
| ↪ After submitting the application form, proceed to pay the application fee through the available online payment modes (Internet Banking, Debit/Credit Card, or UPI). |
| ↪ After successful payment, save the confirmation page and take a printout of the submitted application for future reference. |
Important:
Candidates can submit only ONE application to ONE Railway Zone. Multiple applications will lead to rejection of all applications and debarment from the recruitment process. The chosen Railway Zone cannot be changed after submission.
